Welcome to The Salt Pig
The Salt Pig in Wareham was established in 2010 by James Warren and we opened our second premises, The Salt Pig Too, in Swanage in 2018. Both premises comprise of an urban farm shop, butchery, and a café. We also provide outside catering for events and weddings.
Shops & Restraurants
Our two shops are situated in Dorset and Swanage. Both shops offer Purbeck products and fresh produce. Pop in and enjoy some tasty meals.
Our outside catering has grown and grown since we opened, primarily through word of mouth, as we offer something a bit different. Let us know if we may assist you.
We cater for weddings, events, corporate meetings, training events, conferences, private parties, dinner parties, functions, BBQ's & individual picnics.
What Sets us Apart
We can proudly say that all our beef, lamb, and pork comes from farms with high levels of stewardship located within 8 miles of both shops. We are able to tell you every detail about the rearing and welfare of the animals.
Mangalitsa & Berkshire Pigs
We keep over 160 of our own rare breed Mangalitsa & Berkshire pigs on local heathland and woodland, including the RSPB Nature Reserve at Arne (4 miles from The Salt Pig). The pigs featured on the BBC Countryfile Winter Special in February 2018.
In-House Bucthery & Fish Counter
Both shops have an in-house butchery and fish counter which supply both the shops and cafes with all the meat and fish they need. We make all our own sausages & burgers (with no added preservatives) & bacon, alongside all of our fresh cuts.
Urban Farm Shop
We buy vegetables from small local producers and local residents even bring in vegetables from their allotments and gardens for us to sell! We also sell a wide range of local cheeses, not to mention Victor’s smoked salmon! Pop in to see the latest.
