Welcome to the Salt Pig

The Salt Pig in Wareham was established in 2010 by James Warren and we opened our second premises, The Salt Pig Too, in Swanage in 2018. Both premises comprise of an urban farm shop, butchery and a café. We also provide outside catering for events and weddings.

OUR PROVENANCE


We can proudly say that all our beef, lamb and pork comes from farms with high levels of stewardship located within 8 miles of both shops. We are able to tell you every detail about the rearing and welfare of the animals.

We keep over 160 of our own rare breed Mangalitsa & Berkshire pigs on local heathland and woodland, including the RSPB Nature Reserve at Arne (4 miles from The Salt Pig). The pigs featured on the BBC Countryfile Winter Special in February 2018.

Both shops have an in-house butchery and fish counter which supply both the shops and cafes with all the meat and fish they need. We make all our own sausages & burgers (with no added preservatives) & bacon, alongside all of our fresh cuts.
